You Never Know What Will Happen…

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Saturday was a beautiful day! I am telling you everyone was out enjoying the wheather, shopping up a storm and basically making it happen.  Now I guess, you are wondering what making it happen means…. Well on White Street that could mean anything from chasing down customers to chasing your dreams.  If you don’t believe me, ask Lil’ Eden Sanaa.

I met up with 8 year old Eden from Brooklyn as she auditioned for a spot in the Nutcracker ballet at Battery Dance. She was super nervous going into her audition. So nervous that she left her ballet slippers at her dance school before she came out to the city.  But despite being shoeless, she danced her little heart out and made it in the production.

While she was auditioning, I also watched a casting for a rap video down the hall in another studio in Battery. The parade of beautiful women walking in and out of the session, reminded me that I was totally in an unique place.  Where can you go and see rappers on one side of the elevator and ballerinas on the other.  White Street is truly a wonderful block.

After I left them, I remembered I was going to a dinner at a friends later that night.  I had to get a new pair of shoes, so I went over to Shoegasm to see if there was anything worth getting.  Of course there was. In fact, there was a 40%-60% off sale of all shoes.  I walked out of there with a great pair of pumps.  The sun is in full shine-mode, I saw a little girl dance into her dream and I am knocking people dead with my new shoes.

As, I went to the White Street garage, I winked my eye at the attendant and asked him if he was enjoying his day… He replied “Not as much as you are!”

You know what he was right.  I love white street.
